Oatmeal Scotchies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) margarine or butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla, or 2 tsp grated orange peel
  • 1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 cups quaker oats
  • 1 12 oz package of Butterscotch flavored morsels (2 cups)

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 375F
  2. Beat butter, sugars, eggs, and vanilla until creamy.
  3. Gradually add flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon; mix well.
  4. Stir in remaining ingredients
  5. Drop by level measuring tablespoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet
  6. Bake 7-8 minutes for a chewy cookie or 9-10 minutes for a crisp cookie, and cool completely
