Ingredients
- 2 packages dry yeast
- 2 cups boiling water
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup to 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup dark karo syrup
- 2 tbs butter
- 2 tsp molasses
- 6-7 cup flour
- (+) 2 cups rye flour
Directions
- Dissolve yeast in 2 cups warm water
- Add sugar to 2 cups hot water, butter, karo syrup, molasses and salt
- Mix, cool with 1 1/2 cup cold water, add yeast, and sifted rye flour
- Beat well and add white flour to harden up
- Let rise until it is double the size
- Shape into four loaves, and let rise again until double the size
- Bake at 350°F for 40-45 minutes
